About Lin

Lin Ashurst was 'Female Independent Financial Adviser of the Year' and was Head of Practice Development at the award winning firm Paradigm Norton Financial Planning Limited, where she worked for 20 years. Lin is now enjoying her own retirement with all the benefits, having written a book on the subject, of knowing what to do and what not to do.

Lin Ashurst

Lin is a respected and regular commentator in the financial press, has been a guest on Radio 4’s ‘Money Box’, and has spoken at several national and international conferences on financial planning topics.

In 1998 Lin was one of the first financial planners in the United Kingdom to achieve Certified Financial Planner status and is one of only 70 Fellows of the Institute of Financial Planning.

"Because of Lin’s advice I’m pretty sure that at the age of eighty I’ll have sufficient income to be able to fly to the Seychelles, buy a Harley Davidson, learn the tenor sax and open a dive shop. And I’ll still have enough left for the occasional tequila."
Tony Robinson, Actor and Writer

"Lin Ashurst is one of the few people I know who takes real pleasure in understanding the complexities of the UK’s pension and tax laws. This enthusiasm even manages to engage those of us who tend to blank out at the mere mention of VAT or CGT."
Vanessa Branson, CEO and Hotelier

"Thanks to Lin and her team I’m not only financially prepared for retirement, I’m really looking forward to it."
Baroness Murphy

"Lin Ashurst writes clearly on a complex subject and comes over as if she really cares. This is what you want in an adviser."
Lawrence Lever, Chairman, Citywire Financial Publishers

"It has been Lin’s inspirational advice that has revealed the way forward for me and many others. She has an exceptional ability to cut through the complexity, combining her financial acumen with a deep insight into what makes us tick as people."
Tim Illston, Head of Pensions Law, Burges Salmon

"I do find it immensely exciting just seeing what life in retirement brings every day. I don’t think I felt this level of excitement even as a small child."
BC (age 62)

"My life was quite constrained before I retired and I feel that I’ve been terribly lucky – I’ve been able to do things in retirement which I’ve wanted to do, which I couldn’t do before. I’ve certainly enjoyed my retirement –as far as I’ve got at the moment!"
ML (age 73)

"I said to my doctor the other day ‘This new drug that you might be putting me on, I’ve been told it only works for five years’ and he said to me ‘You’re 78. What do you want me to say? In five years’ time you’ll be 83. Have you got plans?’ I said, ‘I’ve got plans way beyond 83, doctor’."
